Check These Out

If you're looking for some surf-worthy blogs, check out these posts:

Ben Arment has the right attitude: I want to lead a church not fearing mistakes, but boldly pushing into the future with audacity!

Tim Stevens breaks down Seth Godin's Catalyst talk: I wonder if University is a tribe? I wonder if we are more like a crowd or a tribe?

Mark Batterson adds three more to the list of Bible translations: Which one do you use? How are you going to make that translation a reality?

Good word, audacity. We need more of it. Audacity in reaching out. Audacity in serving. Audacity in caring. Audacity in taking action. Audacity, combined with humility.

We are often a crowd. Especially on Wednesday nights. But we have tribes. Are we one tribe? Hmm.

Steph,
I, too, think audacity is a great characteristic to have in church leadership. I think Jesus had tons of audacity in his ministry. And that audacity really made some "church people" upset with the things he was doing.

I am going to have to check out Seth's book on tribes - I am not sure I totally understand the concept, but I think it is worth some further investment of time.

Thanks for reading!

And what about in church members? Well, it could be messy if everyone got audacious at once. But in the right spirit, at the right time, audacity in church members could be a good thing. I'm pretty sure.

A tribe ... I think of it as closed. But if it's defined as a group of people moving in the same direction, with a common focus, then okay.

I think we have played it safe too long (I'm including myself in this). We have been paralyzed with fear, with inaction, maybe even with inattention - we have not been moving forward in our ministries.

But it's a NEW DAY...I fully believe it! We are breaking free, asking ourselves tough questions, wanting more and willing to risk more - to be audacious! I feel it - don't you?!? Yeah, we may be rockin' the boat, but don't let 'em make you sit down, just keep on rockin' everybody! Can I get a hallelujah?!? (just my two cents) K

Karla,
Funny, I was thinking of you in regards to audacity in church members! We all need to be more like that -- each person audacious in his or her own way, big or small. Bold and humble. It applies in everyday life, too. You're right: a new day is here.

@Stephanie - I think we need plenty of audacious church members. Church members who aren't afraid to do new things are vital to the health of a congregation. It is the ones who get stuck in "we've always/never done it that way" that drive the nails into the coffin of a church

@Karla - Amen sister! A new day is here and with the rising of that sun, we must march forward into the light! Amen!

New tribes forming right and left!

Sort of like lining up to ride the new roller coaster, only there isn't a height requirement! Some are scared, some are queasy; some screaming is going on and lots of laughter. But over it all -- excitement and anticipation of the experience! LOL, that pretty much sums it up!
